I appreciate the word“photohunting”, as it really needs all speed, courage and creativity to make a shot, that one can be proud of. I made my first shots when I was a boy with my grandfather’s old Soviet camera “Zenith”. Grandpa has left early without having taught me his skills. However, he has transmitted to me his passion via his photos. How excited was I, when, one day, I have discovered his photolab equipment in the attic. I started using his b/w and color reversal films sparingly and with care. Later I half-intuitively learned to use an antediluvian enlarger and chemicals. 7 years after, I've purchased my first primitive digital camera. It was charming to see the image, you are about to make, on the screen. It was amusing to make dozens of shots and to choose the best one, deleting the rest or to perfection the most unsuccessful photo with a mouseclick. But, the spirit of “photohunting” seemed to have been lost. I disagree with it. I've never had a professional camera, but I believe, it is still a photographer to capture the unique moment and foreshortening and not the tool.
