Photos: My Scholarship entry - Ever Captivated

So many travelers love that Kerouac quote: “Live, travel, adventure, bless, and don’t be sorry,” but how many truly live that ideal? The being sorry part is something I struggle with from time to time, but I’ve had enough of expressing myself and feeling like I have to apologize afterward, thinking that it’s just too much for some people to handle and that maybe I should be sorry. I’m not sorry. I live. I love. I express. I sense fully, feeling most things with every fiber of my being. Even sunsets stop me in my tracks. As I skirt around narrow roadways on my scooter and see the hint of the fiery sky beyond the rooftops, I can only feel the urge to reach it somehow. I can’t help but wonder around which corner the landscape will finally open up to a full view of the rice fields, the distant jungle, and the setting sun. It always does. I chase it like an addiction. It’s in that moment and series of moments that I feel the most present.
