Passport & Plate - Grandma's Special Chicken Ginger Soup

Ingredients
Ingredients:
½ kilogram of chicken
5 slices of ginger
4 cups of water
½ tsp of sugar
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of pepper

How to prepare this recipe
Place five slices of ginger onto a wok. Stir-fry until the smell comes out with medium heat. Place chicken and keep stirring so that the smell of the ginger gets into the chicken. Add 4 cups of water while stirring. Cook with low heat until the chicken is fully cooked and tender. Add 1 tea spoon of salt, 1 tea spoon of pepper, and ½ tea spoon of sugar. Ready to be served.

The story behind this recipe
I know two things that my Grandma really loved for sure - me and cooking. She was in the kitchen like literally all the time. Her favorite dish was Chicken Ginger Soup. I loved it very much! Around twelve years ago she got stroke, and it impacted her badly. She had a hard time walking. She couldn't cook like before. As years passed, she got better and better, but still she didn't have the same energy like she used to have to cook. Despite that she never forgot to cook for me every time I visited her. She prepared all the spices then had her helper do the rest of the cooking because she couldn't stand too long and cook. Every time I visited her, I always looked forward to her special Chicken Ginger Soup.
My Grandma passed away last year. Three days before she passed away, she made me her special Chicken Ginger Soup which I would never forget how delicious it was. It was definitely the best soup I've ever tasted, cooked with love by the person I love very much. I'm sharing with you this special recipe because I want people to realize that the best food in the world is not the fancy or the expensive one, but it is the one cooked with love by your loved ones. Grandma, thank you for all your love. I know you're happy up there. I bet the Angels crave for your Chicken Ginger Soup all the time.

Photos: My Scholarship entry - Bromo, Never Ending Beauty

Introduced to photography by my senior high school teacher 3 years ago, it changed my life forever. Photography allows me to see world cultures and interact with people. It brings me closer to people, even on my first encounters. Since it is hard for me to express stories in words, I share them through my photos. I cry through my photos. I laugh through my photos. I learn and influence through my photos.

Photographs are more than just freezing moments. They are frozen for distinct reasons. I freeze moments of kids having fun so viewers will transcend their same feeling of joy. I freeze history so viewers will appreciate what has happened in the past. I freeze the present so our stories can be passed down to future generations. I have a big desire to create images that are impactful, summing up thousands of words in them. I want my pictures to touch hearts and be the reasons behind every action taken for the good of the world.

To assist Jason Edwards for Nat Geo in Peru is a dream come true for me to learn and develop my passion enabling me to bring stories from remote areas of Indonesia (if not the world) to the forefront, typical of a National Geographic endeavor.
