Photos: My Scholarship entry - Perspectives

The opera house, in all its magnificence, sits like a diamond atop the crown that is Circular Quay. On the harbor she sits, bathed in the elements with the ocean at her feet, adored by millions worldwide and loved by her devoted Sydney-siders. Up close, her tapestry of tiles and her intricacies are more breathtaking and majestic.

My name is Ainsley and I need this opportunity to learn from the best and a fellow Australian of what it takes to be a photographer for the most powerful vehicle in the world for change. I want to be the one person that inspires someone to make a difference, to make a change. I want to educate people about the environment and the importance of conservation and why we need to protect our planet. I want to have the platform to do some real good in the world, to make a real and lasting legacy upon my planet. I want to see my planet survive; I want to be the inspiration to help one person make a change, make a difference. I want to take that one picture, that one catalyst for change. I just want to opportunity to do some real good on my planet. That's all, and I believe this is the one opportunity I have. Photography is my passion, its my life's journey to capture everything on this little planet called earth

Photos: Travel Photography Scholarship 2012entry

I want to document all the places I visit. I want to change the world, educate people, show them why they should care and protect what they have and show them how I see the world. I want to carry the beauty of the world with me in every photo I take. I also, have made it my mission to be a National Geographic photographer since I picked up a camera, and I still have the photo that inspired all of this.

I love photography, I love what I do. I don't want to do anything else. Photography is it for me. It's where I belong. I don't know who to be without a camera in my, be it my DSLR or my iPhone. Photography is who i am, i see my world through a lens all the time, I want to show people what I see.

I've just finished my university studies! I graduate next year! I can't wait to get out into the real world and start my life and my career.

I should be chosen because I need to know about how national geographic works, what they expect of me, how I can get there and how the mind of their photographers work. I should win this because I need to be a photographer, I need to be in this field, I need to work for National Geographic, I want to grow, to learn and to inspire.

I have the passion and the drive to be what the future of National Geographic and the world needs. This is the best way I can learn that.

About my entry:
I live in Sydney and I love it, there are endless places to explore and visit. This is the heart of the city on a Saturday night, from George street up to Circular Quay. These photos were also taken during the Viv'd festival that lights up Sydney for a few weeks during the end of may to the beginning of june. This is my city, come visit sometime.
