UK leg week 1

Highlights so far up to Edinburgh - the Lake District is magnificent and so is the countyside all the way up. Great to meet Carol's sister Heather and her niece Stacey and Stacey's daughter Abby in bonny Scotland. Lowlights: gale force winds, cold, rain, hail, traffic all the way back to England. But you get that on a bike. Spent the night with Rob and Di and off to the channel today for France - new rear tire for Bella. Vola!

Spent some wonderful time with Di, Rob, Ashleigh and Charlotte. Got the best company, food, scenic tours and rest we could hope for after the very long flight. Ready for the road!

25 hours of air travel and we are finally in England. Bike arrived this morning at 6.30 and now has to be cleared through customs. Then we have got to try and get it in its crate to Di and Robs place where we can uncrate, and reassemble with some new brake pads. Not sure how we are going to get 266kgs of crate from Heathrow to Leamington Spa but we'll double cross that bridge when we get to it...

then off to Scotland on the bike for our first taste of real freedom...

Well we have stuck a huge map of europe on the dining room table and thrashed out a route through 18 countries, about 16000kms and over 3 months, starting and ending in London. This story is so we and you can track our progress along the planned route and see how it pans out! Other than the London and Edinburgh bits, it is a very rough guide of our intensions and it could - probably will work out to be quite different.
