Hiking Spain: Awesome Picos!!

"One small step for man..." Oh yes - the Picos de Europa National Park was like a moonscape complete with lunar-module-esque refuge hut!

How: Caught a train to San Sebastian hired a car and drove to Potes. Lots of accom out of season and outdoor gear if hats/walking poles have been forgotten (got a pair of half-decent walking poles for 15 Euro. BARGAIN) Buses are available but woud have lengthened the journey.

Heaps pf excellent hikes from this region - dry and barren looking but moments of life and loveliness if you keep still and look close...like people I guess.

and..as always...bloody wonderful to be up a peak again. Especialli in Espana!!

My heart quickened:

When I read about the scholarship 5 weeks ago my heart started beating fast and I couldn’t sleep – it is my absolute focus and passion to become a videojournalist/presenter in the outdoor adventure/travel genre and this opportunity is GOLD!

Adventure is my life blood:

Without adventure I feel suffocated. My zest for travel and curiosity for this amazing planet are my oxygen (I avoided marriage and babies because who wants a white picket fence when they can climb mountains in Iran, work in Djibouti or live a couple of years on cruise ships).

I’m committed:

Three days ago my wonderful boyfriend proposed. And I’m THRILLED...and was

still up at 3am that morning editing because I really, REALLY want this opportunity.

I’m a brilliant learner:

All this year I have been learning, practising, getting better. I’ve attended TV Presenter and Freelance Journalism courses and have been hauling my butt to Apple to learn FCPX. And I’ve come SO FAR! I have so much potential.

I have a vision:

I’m in love with presenting and film making. I know now that’s what I must do. Go, get my hands dirty and then tell the story to inspire others to get off their butts and live bigger lives.

It’s not for the trip to Mexico:

I’d do it if it in Penrith! Don’t get me wrong -I do have a special penchant for Mexico though – but this about my future not just my passport.

I’ll make you all look good:

You’ll get brilliant outcomes because of all of the above. I promise.
