My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

My name is Adam Plimmer - I am twenty-two years old and currently live in Sydney, Australia. Two years ago I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and since then I have photographed property, events, live music and landscape. My other interests include Music, which I have been writing and performing for the last 7 years and Drawing, which I have been obsessed with all of my life and was lucky enough to study in college.
Yet, I don’t receive as much pleasure as I do when I am taking photographs – particularly landscape. A recent trip to the alpine region in Northern Victoria, Australia, confirmed my love for this type of photography. I spent up to 10 hours each day taking photos around areas such as Lake Buffalo, Mount Buffalo, Mount Hotham, Falls Creek and Ovens River. I was aw-struck but the pure, untouched beauty of these locations. For my entry into the Travel Photography Scholarship 2011 I have selected three photographs that I shot on the top of Mount Buffalo. My reason for the selection of the images is that they portray the desolate and hard landscape that I fell in love with – a landscape usually hidden by snow from the eyes of visitors.
If I were to receive the World Nomads Travel Photography Scholarship for 2011 it would be an opportunity that I would take full advantage of. It is exactly what I want to do with my life, see the world and practice my craft – I can think of no better opportunity for myself to take than his one in my life. I know that by seeing my photographs you will witness the potential I have and will know that all I need is a foot in the door and to be mentored by a photographer like Jason Edwards, to begin a bright career in travel and nature photography.
