Photos: My Scholarship entry - Taxco, Mexico - Artisans and Lovers

I love how photography can transport me. I can get lost in an image. A good one. And good is a subjective term. What I like about an image might be the thing the next person hates. In some images I can almost feel the colours, as their warmth and vibrancy draw me in or the cool stillness has me searching for a patch of sun to warm up. I can imagine the sounds, aromas and textures around the photographer when a shot was taken.
I love that it is a polarising art form. I love that it is accessible to so many people, that we all do it for such a range of reasons and in such a rich and beautiful array of styles. That diversity inspires me. To search among all those styles for my own and work on it. Develop my skills, keep taking better images.
I dreamed of National Geographic and the amazing photographers who have consistently delivered stunning images to the world for so many years. A dream I thought too big to hope for. But I want this life of adventure. The life of a professional travel photographer. The scholarship can teach me technical skills but more important is the methods and work habits of a successful award winning photographer. The most amazing learning opportunity possible
