Comfort Food

Comfort food is where you find it

Comfort food is where you find it

Travel is exciting.  There are new places to visit, interesting people to meet, histories to learn and great art and architecture to see.  We wouldn't trade this lifestyle for anything.

But sometimes you yearn for something familiar.  Take food, for example.  No matter how "gourmet" the food may be, your mouth waters for one of your old stand-bys.  And when the word for "restaurant" looks like "PECTOPAH" it isn't surprising that the menus aren't in English either.  Now after a week far off the tourist trail, if there is one in Serbia, we were craving some comfort food:  tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich or maybe mac and cheese, anything we could recognize.

If you are among those readers who travel independently for long periods you will understand why we couldn't wait to go to that most international destination, McDonald's, for a Big Mac and fries.  Sometimes you really do "deserve a break today!"
