At World Nomads
we strive to provide you with sound safety advice, helpful travel tips and
inspiration for your adventures. However, we realize that the best advice comes
from those who have been there - you, the travellers!
We want to bring
your talent and experience to our editorial program. If you are interested in
contributing articles to World Nomads, you must be an avid blogger of travel
with a writing background (this includes those who blog recreationally about
their trip and those who do it for a living).
Editorial opportunities:
1.) Monthly Feature Destination content
We feature one
country per month on our homepage and publish content around topics related to
that country. These articles require a strict deadline as all promotions go live on the first of each month.

2.) Open Destination content
While we feature one country per month, we also want to keep building out content for other destinations that our community is travelling to. You are free to pitch an idea for
a destination of your choice, or articles that are not tied to a destination
(for example hiking tips, tips for TEFL teachers, etc).
Hot Topics
Each month, we will publish one article per topic for each 'feature destination', as well as one article per topic for 'open destinations'.

trail in a country
Responsible Travel – as it relates to the destination
Connect Locally – share your local encounter in a country or an authentic recipe

Important Information
It is important to familiarize yourself with the World Nomads brand and Official Blogs before
pitching to write for us. Have a look around the site, read through published
blog posts and get a feel for who our community is.
World Nomad's Official Blogs
The Content
Articles must be
between 650 and 1200 words and include at least one relevant photo. The photos
can be your own or found in the Flickr Creative Commons pool. Please attach
photos as a separate file and not in the body of your text document.
All content
hosted on WorldNomads.com must be exclusive content and not hosted on any other
sites or previously published. Recent travel to the
destination you are writing about is preferred. Experience of
being a traveller/tourist in the destination is essential.
Please include a
one-paragraph bio of yourself as well as links to your blog site or social
media handles. All published articles will display this information at the
bottom of the post.
What's in it for you?
For writers
contributing articles to either of these opportunities, we pay $30AUD/article upon publishing (paid via PayPal).
Our Audience
If it helps to
have a mental picture of your audience, think of a 28-year-old, well
educated, culturally sensitive, adventurous, confident person. We do have a lot
of Gap Year clients, but we also have 30-somethings who have become more pragmatic
travellers (because of the kids/job pressure/limited time). Keep this in mind
when adopting the tone of your article – we like to inject our articles with a
bit personality and humor that is engaging and fun to read.
Spreading the Love
We like to show
the social love. All articles will be posted through our Twitter account and on
our Facebook page to our travel community of 50,000+ to ensure that it receives
as much exposure as possible. We encourage you to promote your work as well –
through your Facebook account, Twitter, blog, email or other social bookmarking
sites.
