So you think you are good enough to be a travel writer or photographer? Well here is your chance.
World Nomads are publishing the very best stories and photography from 2007 in a professionally designed hardback book through Blurb.com. The book will be a collection of stories and photographs from our travel community, presenting the boldest, most exhilarating and audacious adventures from around the world.
We invite you to submit your best stories or photographs either from your existing World Nomads Travel Journal ... or one you create. Each successful contributor will receive a free a copy of the book to show off to your friends and familly as well as a share of the profits.
Common Questions
1. Can I enter both stories and photographs?
Yes, if you think your content is good enough, but from our experience people tend to be better at one or the other.
2. How much will I earn from inclusion in the book?
Sorry, we simply don't know. This depends on the volume of books we sell as well as the number of contributors it has to be split with, however this is a book for you and about you, so we want to keep the profits with you.
3. How are profits calculated?
Total profits will be calculated every 12 months and split evenly between the contributors. However, to make the process managable, if the profits are less than US$20 per contributor, the total profit will be donated to Oxfam (www.oxfam.org).
4. Does it cost anything to submit?
No, we encourage you to have a go but please be selective with your very best work.
How to Enter
1. For stories
You can enter up to 5 of your best travel stories from 2007 but they need to appear as part of a World Nomads travel journal, so if you don't already have one, create one first, add your top stories and then note the URL of each story on the entry form.
2. For Photography
You can enter up to 5 of your best travel photographs from 2007.
* Upload these to flickr.com
* Caption each image as you wish them to be published
* Tag the photographs with "World Nomads Adventures"
* Add them to the WorldNomads.com group
* Note the URL of each image on the entry form.
3. Complete the entry form no later than Monday 31st December 2007. The best entries will be selected for publication in the World Nomads' Book of Travels 2007 and successful entrants will be notified by Monday 21st January, 2008.
