Tarquinia

It didn't feel like we road so far. It was pretty flat. Arrived in town during siesta, so few shops were open. We were still on the hunt for gas for our stove and ended up buying a whole new burner instead. Now, that we had a stove the eating possibilities were endless! It was a sleepy town preparing for the on slaught of European vacationers which would begin in a couple weeks. There a bunch of places to rent bikes, mopeds and ATVs to ride on the beach. The beach front businesses had all of their umbrella out ready to be used only there was virtually no one there.

The camp was just across the street from the Sea. There were a few other temporary campers and later in the evening a tandem appeared. We saw the couple pedal past us while we were in town and I told Jon that they would probably be sleeping next to us that night. Sure enough they were camped nearby when we returned for the night. As usual we were hungry when we pulled into town and there was one pizzaria open. The pizza was awesome and not just because we were really hungry. In fact it was so good we went back again for dinner later that night! That was also the night we vowed to eat smarter from then on knowing that our bodies needed better food than pizza and gelato in order to meet the demans we would put on them while biking.
