A jump for joy (and tears)

ITALY | Tuesday, 18 July 2006 | Views [332]

I was playing a softball game in Italy with some friends and we just scored. I got so excited, I jumped for joy in the dugout and suddenly (I'm 5'10") came into contact with the sharp ledge separating the roof of the dugout from the fence. I had not seen it before or known it was so close to my skull.

I dropped to the ground in pain and only then noticed all the blood streaming onto the ground. The ledge had slashed through my hair and skin. Shortly after, an ambulance took me to the hospital emergency room in Sarrono, where, after a few anesthetic shots, six stitches, three or four x-rays, one neckbrace, a few pain-killers and many tears I was discharged.
