Tessy and her Crazy Adventures As a child I used to hate travelling and changing country! My dream was to become a veterinary and own a big farm with many animals. I am now an anthropologist, a filmmaker and a photographer and I can't stay in the same city for more than one year

Born to an Italian diplomat and a Venezuelan mother, I had the chance to grow up in different countries such us Italy, Greece, Russia, France and Venezuela.

After graduating from high school in Caracas (Venezuela), I went back to Italy to complete my BA in Social Anthropology hoping to continue traveling, and exploring different cultures and ethnicities around the world. For as long as I remember, traveling has been the only way of living.

In 2009, while achieving an MA in Arts at the London University, I started taking photography classes discovering my passion for camera and composition. Furthermore my interest in the Far East pushed me to move to Japan for two years to experience the culture I had longed to reach for quite a while. However, the love for the country and people was not enough to overcome the boredom and stress of a very challenging office job that eventually led me to leave my beloved Nippon.

Soon after realizing that a corporate environment would never suit my life style, I decided to move to Jakarta and stay with my sister trying to sort out my future. The opportunity to assist two English directors arose, and I was nominated as their executive assistant, following them in the making of local TV commercials. At the same time I started to research about Black Magic in Bali taking pictures and shooting a trailer for a possible documentary. Unfortunately, my lack of equipment and funding made it impossible to finish the project. I am, however, keeping the door open for future opportunities.

My dedication combined with my sister and mother’s support finally gained me the strength to pursue my passion in photography and documentary making, choosing Sydney Film School as the best school for me to gain the technical skills necessary for a documentary maker to work independently in low budget situations.

Images hold a different kind of power from words, either moving pictures or still photography, they are both capable to highly influence generations through the world regardless of languages and cultural barriers.

In the future I wish to take stunning pictures with the power to move other emotions and actions, as well as recording social documentaries around the world giving voice to those who are silenced.
