Bariloche

Arriving in the town that you have never seen before, have been envisioning for 6 months or more, and will be living in for an extended period of time is always disappointing. I remember when we first drove into the city limits of San Diego.  I had expected palm trees, white buildings and an instant sun tan. Instead, we were quite disgusted by the 1970´s look of it all. But of course, after just a few minutes we loved (and will forever love)San Diego.

As we got closer to Bariloche, my heart sank.  Trash. I didn’t envision trash! Stray dogs. What? This wasn’t part of my dreamy dreaminess.  This is a town with a bus station and supermarkets! Where is the tiny Swiss village I had pictured with tiny little cottages and happy smiling gnome-like people waving a warm welcome?

¨Hey babe, check out the chocolate shop.¨

¨Oh my.¨

¨Hey look at lake.¨

¨Wow! And the mountains!¨

Okay, okay, I guess we’ll give this place a try…
