Border crossing Chile-Argentina

No man’s land: the area between the border of two countries that belongs to neither country. In some places it is called the duty-free zone. In other places it is a wretched, run down death trap.  This particular land between lands happens to be a gigantic mountain pass...

12:00pm: Trip #1 through no man’s land (nml):  “WOW!!!! This mountain pass is spectacular!  Look honey SNOW and ICE on the road! Are you sure we didn’t need the stamp at immigration?”

“I asked two times.  Let’s hope not because this pass is BEAUTIFUL but it is a REALLY long way back to the Chilean customs.”

2:00pm: Trip #2 through NML:  “I can’t believe he didn’t give us the right stamp!”

“Yeah what an idiot. Well it’s a good thing the drive is so nice. Just think, we were almost in Argentina!”

4:00pm: Trip #3 through NML:  “It’s really a big hill, huh?”

“Yeah. Watch out for that ice on the road.  How much gas have we used up now?”

“Almost all of it. Let’s hope this time we can actually cross into Argentina.”

“Yeah.  This view is nice, but I’m getting bored.”

“Yeah. Pass me another cracker.”
