Sushi SPAM

SPAM sushi ... What have the English created!

SPAM sushi ... What have the English created!

This is true. Honest to God. Someone, somewhere in the world has actually put a lump of fried SPAM on top of a ball of rice, wrap it in a piece of limp seaweed and have the temerity to call it Sushi. There should be laws against this sought of thing.

For someone whose prime reason for visiting Japan is the astonishing cuisine and the equally phenomenal onsen, this has to be something of a bad joke.

Robbie Swinnerton, a food writer with the Japan Times calls it "sophisticated" (he has to be joking), it is very popular in Okinawa according to Wikipedia, and for those of you who can't quite work out the fascination for SPAM, check out the Monty Python Sketch.

And now for something completely different.
