Lost!

A change of plans saw us reverse direction and head south for Honduras and the Mayan ruins of Copan.
Arriving in Guatemala City after three and a half hours on a dusty, bumpy bus, squeezed between a pickpocket and a kid with a huge tape player, the day started badly.
We were aiming for Chiquimula on the Honduran border, and in the heat and chaos of the city bus station, were directed to and found a seat on the bus. Three and a half bumpy dusty and hot hours later we were dropped off in your average border town and whipped out the Lonely Planet guidebook map looking for a place to stay. As we wandered around, nothing seemed to fit. We tried it upside down, sideways and were cursing the accuracy until, with a creeping dread and an 'ohhhhh-nooooo' feeling when you simply want to ignore reality for a few moments more, it gradually dawned on us that we were in the wrong town.
Chiquimulilla, pronounced cheeky-mul-ee-a, is on the El Salvadorian border whereas our destination was pronounced Chiquimula.
We quickly decided that spending a night in the arse end of nowhere only to face another sweaty day's travel wasn't an option, so we threw the packs back onto the bus we had just arrived in. Six unpleasant hours later we collapsed in a tiny hotel after 14 hours on the go. You get days like this. Just go with the flow.
