Beijing airport

CHINA | Thursday, 27 September 2007 | Views [190] | Comments [1]

Beijing airport is very expensive for things like maps, a tourist map of Beijing with both pinyin and Chinese characters is AUD$20. Around Beijing they are AUD$2. If you are thinging of coming to Beijing either arrive in Beijing with a map or buy one from your hotel. There is no need to buy a map at the airport, you can simply visit the information desk (before or after customs) and ask them to phone the hotel and then translate the name and address into Mandarin for you. Then just hand the name and address to a taxi driver.

I've been told by a couple of people desperately looking for a good map with pinyin on that my map is the best they have seen. One guy who has been in Beijing for months said he could not find one as detailed anywhere.

Perhaps I did need to spend so much after all.
