Life is not Always a Beach

ECUADOR | Thursday, 9 April 2015 | Views [279]

Sometimes its the sulfur springs of Agua Blanca. When one dives in and comes up in the same spot, tiny bubbles pop all around. It feels like being tickled. I have been lucky to go during the week with an employee of the hotel when we are virtually alone (except for the locals at the small eatery nearby who desperately hope we will eat something).

Other times it is food poisoning from one of the more expensive restaurants in town. I was so excited to have their famous paella on Friday night.. It was tasty at the time and I brought leftovers back for lunch (I was excited for that too). Alas, it was not meant to be for in the early hours of Saturday morning I woke to gut wrenching pain and a whole 24 hours of suffering. This was how I spent my Easter weekend. Needless to say I threw out the leftovers.

But mostly I just lie in my hammock and listen to the waves. Once in a while I will take a dip.
