Wondering and Wandering

I graduated. Now what? Do I live the life I never wanted to live? The one where I move to the city, get a job in a corporate cubicle, and slave away 60 hours a week for $40,000 a year? No thanks. How about 5 years down the road when I settle on a girl I don't truly love, buy the car I don't need, have the marriage that won't last, buy the home I can't afford? No thanks. I want to see things, I want to experience life in every way. This is the only life I've got, I might as well make the most of it and do something I won't foget. So here I am, travelling the world one step at a time. Where I'm going is yet to be decided, how long I'm there is up in the air, but one thing's for sure. Whatever I do, where ever I go, I'm going to be living. You can count on that.

I'm going to Berlin! Good bye simple English country life, Guten Tag big city! I will be working for a family with ONE child, 12 years old, to help him with his English and just be his companion. This seems to be much more my style. Plus, it's only for 3 months! That means I will still get to go to Scotland with Doug and Rob, and Nepal and India with Colby. Granted, I'm going to be incredibly broke by the time I get done with those two little adventures but hey, I can always aupair again. I'm not going to be getting rich with this family, but hopefully enough to get me where I want to go. I'm so damn happy, dont get me wrong though, Marion has been absolutely wonderful. She's already sad to see me go, partly because I've done so much work for her but also because (her words)'I'm great company'. Take that you negative disfunctional artist hippies you. Pictures will come soon enough, don't worry. As soon as I get settled I will begin uploading all of them (over 100). I'm going into town tomorrow to get a shave (you should see my beard, haven't cut it in over 2 months) and a real haircut (haven't cut my hair in over 3 months). I've got to look smart for the Germans. You've seen the girls, you know how attractive they can be. German beer, sausages, mustard...I'm gonna be in great shape by the time I'm done. Hey JC, congrats on graduation buddy...you sure you can't come to Germany, do I have to say it? Beerfest?! Hope all is well with my friends and family, take care. Love ya,

Alex I am so happy for you!!! YES.... another country added to your list. Uncle Dan and Aunt Karen really enjoyed Berlin, I am sure you will as well. As for the shave, well uh, WOW!!! Are you sure you will recognize yourself. It was an awesome beard, I have pictures to prove it.Everyone commented on it in AR. Much love is sent from all.

Glad to hear about the new job. Sounds like the perfect job for you: one child, a boy, speaking English, beer, and being a good companion. All the things you're really good at. HA!
Oh, that "itchy foot" thing could be from those "Merry 'ol English" rainy days and nights. Get some foot powder for that.
Are you going to have to get a suitcase now to carry some new clothes to go along with that new "haare schnieden" and your "Schnurrharre" shaved off? I really thought your beard looked sweet. Love ya' Dad

Berlin! That's fantastic. The memory I have of Germany is visiting it for one day when I was ten, and we definitely went out and had bratwurst and beer (well, I didn't, but the whole place smelled like it). It was ever so festive. :) La Crosse is sort of like Germany, and I reccomend it. Wish me luck as an RA, we can swap kid stories now.

Wundarbar!! Well, that and "danke shein" are it. Adding German to Spanish and a smattering of Italian is excellent. Hugs to angels and godmothers named Marion and Diana and I hope they come to see us.

Never been to Germany . . . need the stamp for my passport . . .
