My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

After an early Winter morning start and many hours on the bike we turned a corner to be greeted with an amazing sight, at least 15 paragliders sailing in the wind as if on invisible waves. A breathtaking sight, a sight we found deserving of a perfect place to rest our legs and refuel our energy for an afternoon lunch in the mountains.

We all have passions, mine is exploration. This is a story about 9 friends on 9 bikes exploring a province in South Africa called Mpumulanga, a chance for the child within us to come out and play again.

On the second day we ventured down into the valley and stumbled upon a small rural village. It was a Sunday afternoon and the local community had gathered out in the sunshine to watch their weekly football match and support their local team. Instead of perfectly cut green grass with a backdrop of branded concrete this game is played on a dry field, no lines and plenty of smiles. Happiness within simplicity.
