so bad news,

apparently the US government deems it illegal to enter africa without proof of a return trip plan. since i only had purchased a one way ticket i would be committing a crim by entering kenya. thus i was turned away at my gate minutes before i was supposed to load. after spending hours on the phone and thousands of dollars on a ticket back, i was approved to leave america at 1pm on tuesday. i will get to kenya at about 8pm kenyan time. for those of you in oregon thats approx 7-8 hours ahead.

luckily the wonderful organization i am with was located in seattle and picked me up and are taking me back to a house to stay for the night which saved me spending 30hours in the airport. thank goodness for kind people.

anyway i just wanted to shout out that update...things were hectic but we're back on track. thank you for everyone who helped out during that crazy mess. you're all beautiful!

Whoa, Kena. I can't believe nobody told you about that rule before you left! When did you buy your ticket back for? Are you going to cancel the return flight?
