In their festively embroidered outfits, marking with which band they play, the emotion found within their eyes can be strikingly intimate. The similarities found in the countenance of these three musicians renders age irrelevant.

The neighborhood children come daily to hear them play, or to accompany their relatives. Some of the players seem to stand between this division, not children but not adult.

In a rapidly changing India the juxtaposition of an old craft with new wealth is everywhere. The importance of these bands is readily apparent in their music. It defines India, the shared culture between two extremes.
