17th March -  over night bus from San Juan to Salta

18th March - Salta

Out of all the towns in the north of Argentina I've been to, Salta is by far the most attractive. It's surrounded by mountains and the architecture is what I would have expected in Argentina, with many European influenced buildings. A refreshing change from San Juan and Mendoza.
  
We took a trip on a cable car upto the viewpoint which had a great view over the city. Being surrounded by mountains Salta is prone to changeable weather. Which it did.

Stayed in a lovely hostel called Blemis
