My Scholarship entry - Happiness in the Land of the Thunderdragon

Having grown up in an adventurous family, I quickly learned that I’m not complete without a camera in my hand. If exploration begins in your own backyard, then Bangkok’s my sandbox. Growing up in a fast paced Asian city taught me to capture the ever-changing landscape as it might all change one day. Already having realized that documentary work is my true passion, I photograph every day and can only hope that my stories will reach greater audiences and effect true change one day.

Two months ago, chosen as the US intern, I traveled to NYC for an annual photo workshop hosted by 4 prominent fine art photographers. While I am grateful for the experience of experimenting in a different style and learning a great amount, I've also realized that I want to impact the world and be remembered through my vision.

The opportunity to be one-on-one with Jason would allow me to push my limits and advance my photo game to new heights. I know that this scholarship is built for aspiring photographers with questions like mine. I wouldn’t be there for the novelty of saying "I went of a trip with a Nat Geo photographer”, instead; I would turn over every atom of the experience and build upon it.
