Recently I´ve discovered that if you give a cat a laser, you will have endless fits of laughter. The other week I bought a small laser pointer to user with Freckles. Since then, I´ve gotten her to do the wackiest flips, spins, circles and jumps. I got it so that it would give her a chance to run around like a crazy girl, but it´s also been good for me to come home from hours at the library to drop down in hysterical fits of laughter because of her.
This week, my entire neighborhood had a power outage around 8pm. Sometimes I think we forget what a privilage it is to have electricity. It was such a strange feeling to need flashlights, even on the sidewalk because it´s so dark. I ended up lighting candles around my apartment until I realized I couldn´t email my presentation to my classmates nor take a hot shower for work the next day. Luckily a good friend lives in the dorms which were generator powered so I finished my homework and showered there.
Earlier this week, I went to a German bar to have a few drinks with some friends. There were maybe 15-20 of us and we shared a boot. It´s a pitcher in the shape of a boot and holds roughly 2L of beer. At this particular bar, there are rules - Once the boot starts to get passed around, you can´t set it down or else you lose. Also, we add rules for every new boot we get, such as hit the table with your fits, flick the boot, take the little man off the top, take a drink, then do the rules in reverse order and pass the boot to the next person. It was a lot of fun! There ended up being lots of foreign exchange students there (all from norther Europe) and so of course we got into some really great conversations. I know I´ve said this before, but I REALLY miss the blunt honesty from Europeans.
Yesterday was the last home football game of the season. My last of undergrad! Ahhhh! (I hate playing the "the last X" game, but I've started doing it on occasion) It was against one of our biggest Big 10 rivales and we ROCKED!! It was such a fantastic game! I even got to be at the tunnel to high five the players as they left the field. Oh, and a bunch of them rushed my section of the stands afterward and danced with us during "fifth quarter." 5th quarter is where the band comes on the field and plays all sorts of nonesense songs for the fans to dance to. LOTS of fun! There were even 2 proposals that game. One was kind of lame with it up on the big screen (take notes, all future court-ers *ahem*) and the other was a band member who wrote "Marry Me *arrow to the tuba player* Kayla!" They walked all around the stadium facing the crowd so everyone stood up cheering. Then they got to the band section and coordinated turning around at the same time. All of a sudden you see this girl in the band section jumping hysterically and the guy runs up and proposes to her. It was ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!
I have my dates set for going to NY. I´ll be there 12/24 - 1/9. (I MAY be able to get home a few days earlier, depending on what my prof says about moving an exam earlier since I have an exam on the 23rd - but I´m unsure at this point.) I also plan on spending New Years in NYC, as a good friend is getting married then. (YAY, L-SHAPPY!!) I´ll be working quite a bit while I´m home so let me know if you´d like to do anything before I leave so I can plan well and fit everything in!
Wow, I´m starting to type lots of run-on sentences so I think it´s time for me to stop typing. Until next time, folks!
