On spitting and staring

CHINA | Monday, 22 June 2009 | Views [98] | Comments [1]

We're not sure what's worse: people accosting you on the street and asking to take a picture with you or people surreptitiously taking photos (and video!) of us when they think we're not looking. Do they go home and show all their friends the strange, white creatures they saw in Xi'an? On that note, staring and spitting are completely acceptable here. Not only do you spit, you really have to loudly hock it up so everyone knows you're spitting. And there have been times when people are staring so hard they nearly run into someone or something else.

aww...the pleasure of experiencing other cultures!

Enjoy! But, be careful of the paparazzi.
