My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Spain | Thursday, November 3, 2011 | 5 photos

It is astounding how each country is differentiated by culture, values and society but can only be merely narrated to the rest of the world through photographs. My trip to Spain in 2011 initiated as an architectural journey which eventually transitioned to a cultural experience. Immersing myself in the culture and the dynamism, photography became the ultimate documentation in capturing my sentiments that developed when strolling through the streets of Spain. The interplay of light and space that features in my photography enables me to observe the movements and interactions but still encapsulates a sense of presence.

This travelling scholarship addresses my aspirations on two fronts. Travelling is the optimum way to learn and experience. Excellent photography is only stimulated by a photographer's response to place. By extending your boundaries towards a travelling experience, it positions yourself to engage in different environments, cultures and society - thus it becomes an additional element in learning about photography. Secondly, the opportunity to continually enhance my skills in photography with a renown photographer is an experience that can only be captured by a stunning picture.

Overall, the travelling scholarship is an inspirational experience. Regardless of who has been awarded the travelling scholarship, each applicant who has been considered will realise their own potentials and their talents in photography. Without a doubt, we will all continue to explore photography in our lifetime and initiate our own journeys to do so.
