In the Valley of Banderban

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Bangladesh | Saturday, October 8, 2011 | flickr photos

I have been doing photography for last eight years. Basically, I am documenting cultural heritage and diversities of the people of my land. Once I held my camera out of passion but with times I took photography as my profession. I have completed graduation on Photography in 2010, from Pathshala-South Asian media Academy & Photo Journalism. Last three years I tried to document some of the ethnic groups in the Chittagong hill tract (CHT), southeastern part of Bangladesh, who have long historical background and diversified cultural orientation in this land.
I have been working on Bawm tribe in Bandarban. They have their own cultural heritages, traditions, customs, norms and religions. The Bawm people are very different in terms of believe, practice and lifestyle from the mainstream people, which attracted me a lot to start photography project on this community. I had another project on the largest mangrove forest in the World that is Sundarban. That was my one year long project and being submitted for advanced diploma as final project. Analyzing my nature of photography I am tourism based photographer and would like to travel from one part of the country to another. So, as I am a tourism based photographer as well as researcher of photographic stream I would like to claim myself as the best candidate in this regard. If you give me this rear chance to develop me in this sector of photography then I would be confident in developing my existing skill simultaneously in archiving a volume of good photographs on tourism which will enrich international cultural heritage.
