Changi International Airport to Downtown
If you ask about transportation at the information desk you will be directed to either the express bus or the taxi stand. A taxi is about S$15, and the bus somewhat less. If you are in no hurry or just plain cheap, opt instead for the local bus or train. Both can be found close to each other in the lower level of Terminal 2, just beyond the Singapore Airlines operations center. We caught the #36 bus which runs into town and parallel to
Changi Airport Budget Terminal
There is a brand new terminal for the growing budget airline business. As of December 2006, only Tiger and Cebu airlines are located at what is referred to locally as the budget terminal. There is a free shuttle bus that runs between Terminal 2 and the Budget Terminal, and a Skytrain connects Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
Mass Rapid Transit (MRT)
For travel between the sights, the MRT (underground/subway) is a convenient mode of travel as well as a welcome respite from the afternoon heat and humidity. The cost between most stations within the downtown area is less than S$1 and less that S$2 for outlying areas. Only one way tickets are sold, and a S$1 charge is added to every fare as a deposit for the electronic card. Don’t forget to get your deposit back when you reach your destination by simply inserting the card in the proper slot on any ticket machine. Some local town maps have the MRT routes shown, and you can get a route map at the information booth in any station.
