It's the spring semester of my junior year, so I am celebrating with un gran viaje filled with classes (unfortunately) and crazy foreign fun.

Real Madrid

Whitney, Ryan, Brint, Nick, Amy, me. Row 2: Emily, Annie, OJ, Annie, Karen, Anna. And the loner: Hilary. Views[108] A pretty fancy staircase. When one of the princes became king, he decided he wanted these steps on the other side of the palace, so the entire set was moved, one stone at a time. Speaking of this, parents, I'm assuming our stairs will have been rearranged by the time I return to Estados Unidos? Gracias. Views[79]
 
This isn't even a special ceiling. It's just a ceiling. Views[74] A statue of the aforementioned prince as a Roman emperor. I've commissioned one of myself too, so I can have more friends. Views[51] A private room of the queen's. Views[56] Not even sure what color this is supposed to be, but it some pretty crazy carpet regardless. Views[53] How do you clean a chandelier like this? How could you ever hope to keep it in sparkly, working order?? Views[81]
 
There obviously weren't enough chandeliers, either. Look how messed up my pictures got! Views[79] This room is for the musicians to sit in. That way, their pretty sounds could travel, but the fancy folk need never suffer to actually look at them. Made entirely of wood, for acoustical purposes. Views[54] Despite the royal cathedral next door, there was a And who could forget the royal Wallgreens?? There were probably five rooms just filled with jars for herbs and all the other sophisticated drugs of the 16th century. Views[82] Back in the real world, here's the Retirio, a big park in the middle of Madrid. Possibly the former grounds of the king's country home, but I am not really remembering right now. More Retirio. Views[90] A fountain in the Retirio. And the sun. Can you imagine so much sun in January? Views[81] A large monumento and a large pool in the Retirio. Views[93] The Palacio de Cristal (glass palace) in the Retirio. So shiny! Views[87] Inside. It usually has some sort of art exhibit, but was of course closed at the time. Views[75]
