This is a pond in the middle of the city with a building in the middle. It is obviously a tribute to something or someone.
The structure in the centre of the pond is not a memorial for someone as u wud think.It is a "teppakulam", a tamil word for the Tank. The Teppakulam is a large artificial tank . It is the site of the annual Float festival. The tank has a flight of stone steps and a very picturesque shrine in the middle.
