Summary:
There was some concerns intially about security in Mozambique as we were scheduled to arrive at the time of an election, however our visas were held up a week and we were allowed in a few days afterwards. Overall we really enjoyed it there. The portuguese colonised Mozambique and only left in 1974 so there was still a strong influence: portuguese is still the official language and much of the cuisine and architecture is influenced by it.
Transport was difficult. Busses and minivans left on time very early in the morning but were dangerously overcrowded and uncomfortable. Highlights were Mozambique Island - which is incredibly interesting although quite dilapidated and Tofo where the water activities were great and the train ride from Cuamba to Nampula.
Regrettably missed Ibo and some other islands.
