One crucial side of life in Amsterdam was over looked in the previous story.Prostitution is legal in the Netherlands, and ¨soft¨ drugs are tolerated. In Amsterdam's coffeeshops, hash is smoked, not fried; "pot" doesn't refer to tea or coffee; and "Colombian" isn't just a beverage promoted by a coffee company.Cannabis is available everywhere and Amsterdam store windows display various medical cannabis, hemp food and other types of products.Apparently there are over 400 products available.
We briefly , for a nanosecond, contemplated trying some Amsterdam ´space cake´ but we didn´t. We are still a little curious and we are still in the Netherlands BUT given the fact that someone in this travel team was part of a research team that investigated the effects on Cannabis on the brain I think that it is highly unlikely that we will tempt fate with unknown qualities and quantities of cannabis.
