When my partner Josiah and I were debating potential adventures, we knew it should have an aspect of danger and humanitarianism. Due to the potential for human contact and the trust is takes to be at the mercy of strangers, hitchhiking for thirty days was the perfect marriage between the two.
“The Highway Walkers” was my first feature film venture. We shot 3-5 minutes web shorts while we were on the road to keep people excited about the final film. I have learned a lot in the last year and a half. The guidance of JJ Kelley of National Geographic was very valuable. The majority of my film knowledge came from trial and error and absorbing what I see work in other travel shows and applying my own variation on those techniques.
?This scholarship will be given to someone that has set the foundation for a travel film career. I have done the work and proven myself competent to handle the challenges of adventure film editing. I don’t receive any income from Highway Walkers Media, it is simply a dream I pump time and energy into in hopes that an opportunity will arise. This scholarship would hone the skills I have acquired and fill my spirit with the work I love to do: telling stories.
