I've given up calling it Ho Chi Minh City; nobody else seems to. I took the 5 star express train down to Saigon; I think 5 star is a bit of an exageration, but it would still give Virgin trains a run for its money. Got to see some scenery for the first few hours of the 8.5 hour journey, mainly rice fields, water buffalo, etc. After it was dark I was fortunate enough to be able to watch the complete box set of every Tom and Jerry cartoon ever made, boy do they do their customer research well ! ;-(
Despite being one of two travellers on the train, I was still given a VIP welcome by the taxi drivers of Saigon, I think every taxi not on a job was there to meet me.
