Mexican philosopher, head of the Faculty of Philosophy within the UNAM (National University of Mexico), chair of the Mexican Commission of Intellectual Cooperation, managed the Ministry of Public Instruction and secretary of the National Consultant Council before Unesco. His most interesting work : Hipótesis (1928), The Profile of Man and Culture in Mexico (1934), Towards new Humanism (1940), History of Philosophy in Mexico (1943). One can appreciate the influence of Ortega and Grasset in his work. He also shows interesting thinking regarding mankind, with a rare combination of medicine and philosophy (from his mixed educational background: he first studied medicine).
