Rogelio Bacon (1214 – 1294), or Roger Bacon, an English philosopher nicknamed “doctor mirabilis” (wonderful teacher) due to his great works in philosophy but also alchemy, mathematics, optics, astronomy. He made many discoveries such as the manufacture of gunpowder and the magnifying glass; moreover, centuries before Newton, he discovered that prisms disassembled white light.
