Downtown Calgary.

Talk about a brief visit - I stopped in Calgary for a total of around 4 hours on a Friday night. I'm not sure that I missed much. Big city, lots of people, a little sensationalism.

I'm not sure whether the locals always wear cowboy boots and hats to bars, but with the Stampede in progress there is no cheap accomodation in the whole city. On this occasion I drew the line at sleeping in the bus station. Besides, one of the girls I had met in Edmonton was here in Calgary waiting for the bus and had apparently slept quite uncomfortably there the night before - much to the annoyance of the security guard.

I guess you get to see the best of a city when you only stop for a beer and then head back to the bus station to get out of there.
