So the whole trip we've been oblivious to some of the madnees happening so close to us. There was an earthquake a week ago off the south islands mini islands... no harm. Then there was a flood in front of the glacier I hiked... two days later. Then an avalanche at Milford Sound, which meant we couldn't so the cruise through the sound. Then a small volcano burst at Mt. Whakapapa where we were meant to go snowboarding two days earlier, but the snow was crap. Then a village we stayed in, makarora was flooded. AND Then a pretty big storm the day before our fishing trip in the southernmost part of the south island, stuart island.. just off the bottom tip. The volcano one was the only on that had fatalaties that I know of. It is crazy out here... so many extremeties w/the weather.
