My Scholarship entry - African Safari

Kenya | Sunday, November 16, 2014 | 5 photos

My name is Allie Sharpe, I am 23 and live in Sydney, Australia. I am incredibly lucky to have a job in office management, however I am always searching for a career that holds more meaning for me; namely relating to wildlife or photography.

I have used a camera from the age of 14 and received a Canon 550D for my 21st birthday. The moment I began shooting with my SLR, it became very obvious that I was only interested in nature and wildlife. I believe the overwhelming passion I have for all creatures is the sole reason some of my photos have turned out so well. I pride myself on being a vegetarian and an animal activist and if I could help reduce animal exploitation and cruelty through wildlife photography, that would be the ultimate dream.

My recent trip to Kenya allowed me to experience almost 2 weeks of 12 hour days of shooting, and I absolutely LOVED it! I believe my love for wildlife photography and using this passion to travel the world is something I share with Jason Edwards, and working with him on this scholarship would be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and the potential for a steep learning curve.

Thank you for considering my application.
Allie Sharpe
